I am a fractional Chief Operating Officer and consultant with a strong background in operations, finance, sales/marketing, and leadership development. I have developed teams and built companies in a number of vertical markets.
In late 2015, as the President and COO, I lead along with my two partners, our privately held and organically funded SaaS company through an acquisition by a premier private equity group.
I have had my fair share of bumps and bruises — from a challenging partnership issue to an undercapitalized and doomed to fail-from-the-git-go startup — I learned along the way that every successful enterprise comes down to its people, processes, and products (in that order).
Both as an accredited investor and serial entrepreneur, I have a unique perspective on what is needed to create and realize significant and sustained value. I would welcome the opportunity to serve you and your team.

Here are some testimonials from some of my favorite colleagues, customers, and former employers.
“I worked with James for many years at McKinney PD. James is a true professional in every aspect of the word. His experience and maturity were quite evident in everything he did. Everyone knew that you could count on James to handle any situation to the professional expectations of the agency. His leaving, relocation, was a real loss for the agency.”
Executive Director of Public Safety at City of Carrollton
“I had the pleasure of working with James when he became a reserve police officer with the McKinney Texas Police Department. During that time James and I worked together on several occasions and on many different assignments. I could always count on James to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions in the performance of his duties, especially in response to critical incidents or dangerous calls for service. James always maintained a professional and positive demeanor and treated all those he contacted with dignity and respect. James was a tremendous asset to our organization.
One of the things I respected most about James was his willingness to serve our community on a volunteer basis as a reserve police officer.”
– Mark Moyle, MSCJ
Lieutenant, City of McKinney PD
“James and I worked together for several years as we both served on the board of directors for the Center for Church Communication (CFCC). Not only did James dive right in and figure out what needed to be done, but he did it with tenacious grace and skilled focus. James is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and do the work that many would find too tedious. James knows how to create systems that are sustainable, repeatable, and scalable. CFCC is better today because of the role that James played in growing the organization.”

“We benefitted tremendously by having James as a development manager at ICS.
His unique attributes enabled us to redesign/rewrite/deploy our entire suite of public safety software in a very short period of time…
– intelligent (very bright and an extremely fast learner)
– technically forward thinking (always stayed abreast of the latest
– technology, no matter what the time commitment was)
– tremendous interpersonal skills (enabled him to be a great manager and role model)
– dedicated (he invested an untold number of hours at and away from the office)
– technical and business experience (certified police officer, paramedic, call center dispatcher and Microsoft certified developer)
– high morals and honorable (always did what was right and fair for his team and customers)
Summary: We all miss his talents and one-of-a-kind traits/personality.”
– Ray Sims

“I have a great amount of respect for James’ leadership at MonkDev. He is wise, driven, and organized. The man knows mission and metrics. Watching him work makes me want to be a Monk.”
